A free 3 week seminar that serves as an introduction to our current health system, health markets, progressive reform proposals, ways to evaluate health policies, interpreting health system research, resources on how to get involved and continue expanding your health policy knowledge. Attendance at any given session will be informative without having attended any other session(s), so come to one, two or all three.
The instructor is UHS Director, John Schwarz (click for

CURRICULUM VITAE).
UHS is not affiliated with the health or health insurance industry, any political party or group, any government institution, or any other organization. It sometimes participates on an informal basis with other progressive health reform and with other health policy organizations with no financial involvement of any kind. UHS is an unincorporated non-profit entity funded only by it's staff members. UHS's mission is to be a health system and policy research, education, and information resource institution, and to serve as the central citizen advocacy organization for "a united health system."
The material will be somewhat detailed to provide a quick learning experience for those wanting or needing to become well-versed in health system and policy issues but can be taken at your own level of comfort and depth of understanding. For those with a more elementary level of interest, weeks 1 and 3 will be the most worthwhile.
